Words of Wisdom for Seniors in the College Application Process

Between studying for tests, playing on a sports team, or practicing in marching band, the college application process can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions. However, seeking help from people you trust can often be the best way to manage a busy schedule. Members of the Foothill faculty share their advice for the class of 2026 and how they can make the most of the application season.

Ms. Parry, Co-Head Counselor: "To seniors, I would say that the college application process can be overwhelming and confusing, but you don't have to go through it alone! Reach out to your counselor for support, we are here to help you along your journey."

Ms. Wharton, Student Assistance Program Specialist: "College application season can feel overwhelming, so it's important to manage your time and protect your well-being throughout the process. Tackle applications like you would a major project: set aside small chunks of focused time each week, make checklists, and set achievable goals to stay on track. Just as important, take care of yourself: prioritize sleep, healthy eating, social connections, and your mental health."

Ms. Delgado, College and Career Specialist: "Stay ahead of deadlines — start early and stay organized! Ask for help when you need it. Application workshops, Academic Counselors, use the resources available! It's okay not to have it all figured out. College is about exploring and growing! Take breaks — you'll do better rested!"
