Music enjoyers, families, and friends of performers pack our MPR each year to watch and listen to the winter showcase of our talented music program, presenting shows from band, orchestra, jazz, and choir. For months, these students filled the band and choir rooms with steady rehearsal to perfect their pieces. Many also spent time outside of class learning and listening to the music they would bring to life on stage. "For each concert we prepare months in advance. Typically, we only do one song in English per concert, but for the upcoming winter concert all our songs for Chamber Choir are in different languages," Sahej Toor [10], co-president of one of our student-led choirs, shares. Each show performs for one night each, with Foothill Band as the opening performance, and Foothill Choir singing the closing act. The large variety of band sections, from woodwinds to percussionists, all prepared and practiced for a dynamic lineup of songs including Shattering Infinity, Winter Dances, Minor Alterations, and Momento. Each piece was practiced to a level of innate perfection, which can be quite a challenge and time consumer for many performers. "We all put a lot of time and hard work into each one of our songs," said Ami Ogata [10], a percussion player, emphasizing how much preparation really goes into a single show. The night of each concert, the MPR transforms into a space of perfected sound and winter celebration, showcasing the dedication and talent of Foothill's young musicians and singers.
