During the first month of 2026, Boys and Girls Soccer players kicked off the new year right where they left off before winter break. Without losing a single game in December, the Boys Soccer team was prepared to win their first match back. On January 8th, the Falcons beat Dougherty Valley in a close 1-0 game, making it a memorable win for varsity player Kavin Srivastava [10]. He recalls, "The game was full of passion and had a lot of fights which kept us energized." Because games typically run late into the evening, strategic planning and unexpected plays are key. "We were able to edge them out and win our first EBAL game of the season," Srivastava said. While celebratory wins sparked the start of many underclassmen's soccer careers at Foothill, the seven seniors on Girls Soccer were ready to end a long battle with a close rival. Varsity Girls Soccer Goalkeeper Anjali Mody [12] explains, "The most memorable game so far this season was probably the one against Dublin. We had tied them every year for a while, so it was really satisfying to finally pull out a win." For the past three years, the Dublin Gaels have competed head-to-head with Foothill's Girls Soccer team, repeatedly resulting in consecutive ties. By giving their 110% effort this year, the Falcons were able to break that streak for the triumphant 1-0 victory. While rising players like Srivastava set the stage for their future seasons, seniors like Mody celebrate their final games wearing "Foothill" across their jerseys. As the season comes to a close, both the Boys and Girls Soccer teams continue to give it their all on the field, preparing to close out the 2026 season with nothing but net.
