On January 8th, students at Foothill were given the opportunity to meet the author Arushi Avachat during her school visit in the library. Arushi studied English and political science at the University of California, Los Angeles, and later at Oxford University. As an alumna of Foothill, she said, "It felt like a way of giving back; coming back reminded me of how this school shaped me, and it felt meaningful to come back and talk to the current students. Not many of the students have read my books, but I still feel grateful to be able to connect with them and show what people can do from high school. Especially if they are not sure they want to work a typical job," Avachat said. Arushi has written one book, Arya Khanna's Bollywood Moment, which she debuted in 2024. She also has another book set to release this year titled Rani Deshpande Takes The Wheel. Both of these books are heavily inspired by her South Asian roots. At the library visit, she discussed her time at Foothill during the pandemic and told the story of her journey as an author. She helped encourage students to follow their passions, embrace creative arts, and think of career paths that are not always the most traditional, helping leave a lasting impression on the students who attended her visit.
