Foothill Athletes Practice for the Upcoming Fall Season
FOOTBALL athletes trained strong throughout the entirety of the summer in preparation for their upcoming season. Brackson Dussan [10] reviews how the team worked hard over the summer. "We practice 3-4 times a week, 3 hours long, and they vary from having 7's against other schools to working out. Our goals for this season is to get stronger and develop our new players to compete with other schools. My favorite part of our summer practices is the 7v7 against other teams because I like getting to compete with teams before season starts," Dussan said. Engaging in scrimmages around the Bay proves just how focused the Falcons are on making each play count. Students should prepare to fill the nest for this year's Football season.
GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL began their pre-season early this past summer. Through digging drills and hitting lines, the girls have been playing strong ahead of the fall season starting in August. Kate Lange [11] shares her positive experience with open gyms. "I personally love to spend my time going to clinics and open gyms alone or with my friends and teammates, whether it's for club or for school. They help me so much, challenge me and prep me for the upcoming seasons," Lange said. As an athlete of our school volleyball program, Kate speaks on behalf of many dedicated athletes. The girls never hesitate to dive for balls and reach to make perfect pancakes. Following a state title, these players will play their hardest as they dominate on the court.
GIRLS' TENNIS athletes have been especially inspired to practice hard over the summer following the recent Wimbledon tournament. Hayden Lu [12] breaks down what a typical open court practice looks like. "We usually play a game first then go into playing singles and doubles matches. They are helpful because it gives players the opportunity to start practicing before the season starts. Our goals for this upcoming season is to get to know one another better, especially any new players," Lu said. The Girls' Tennis team works to perfect their volleys, slices, footwork, and other skills to compete against other strong teams. They look forward to their upcoming fall season after gaining the upper "forehand" on pre-season practices.
