First-Time AP Students: Nervous or Excited?

A new year poses as a new opportunity for many: AP classes. Some students might feel nervous while others are eager to take on a new challenge. Sophie Moghal [10] is hopeful for how her experiences will help her in the long run. "I'm feeling a little nervous obviously because I've heard a lot of things from older people who took the class, but just the summer homework seems like a lot of work, too. I'm sure it's going to be a huge commitment but I'm hoping it'll pay off in the future!" Moghal said. Whether it's AP World or AP Statistics, all anticipating students prepare for their classes by completing summer work. Some students balance their time between AP work and other extracurriculars. For Jason Praveen [10], it's sports. "I'm really nervous going into sophomore year since everybody says it's really important. I play basketball as well, so I feel like being a student athlete takes extra work. But I feel like if I take the right steps everything will be fine," Praveen said. Whether it's your first or fourth year taking AP classes, it's normal to feel nervous about a difficult class. But, between studying, writing notes, and taking tests, maintaining a positive mindset is key to achieving your version of success.
